BYKKO E-Bikes Bring Pedal Power to Joondalup Resort WA

14/12/2021As world leaders meet at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP 26, BYKKO and Newy Rides want to see the Newcastle community ditch their cars and jump of bikes as part of global action this weekend – Saturday 6 and 7 November 2021.
BYKKO Managing Director Monica Zarafu says we are joining millions of others in a day of global action, to tell governments that cycling offers huge potential to cut climate emissions, and that active travel must be urgently embraced as part of the solution to the climate crisis.
“The climate change conversation can be overwhelming but making real and lasting change starts with one person deciding to leave their car behind and use a bike instead.”
“We want to see governments at all levels prioritise making streets for people not for cars. This is how you get even the most nervous riders to take up cycling.”
Newy Rides Managing Director Ben Ogden says cycling, besides being a very healthy way to go from A to B it is the most authentic and sustainable way to explore a destination.
“At Newy Rides we are cycling obsessed. We hope that energy rubs off on our guests and if we can encourage more sustainable action, we’re thrilled.”
“Swap your car for two wheels – you won’t look back.”
Transport accounts for nearly 25% of global carbon emissions, with 80% of people in cities choosing high-emissions-producing cars for their private transport trips.
Modelling by the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of California shows that if bikes and e-bikes became 22% of all transport trips in all cities worldwide, greenhouse gas emissions and energy use would be 47% reduced by 2050.
How can you get involved? Use your bike instead of your car.
If you don’t have a bike and want to get involved, BYKKO is offering 2 for 1 e-bikes this weekend – Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 November – with their daily subscription. You can hire two bikes and only pay for one – that’s $10 for a daily subscription for two.
Make sure you post and tag pics of your ride on socials using #thismachinefightsclimatechange #cop26
